TAXONOMY OF ARCHIVING

I created this interface to house a taxonomy of archiving—more specifically a taxonomy of archival containers. I constructed and hand illustrated each “archival organism” based on graphic representations of the affordances of different kinds of archival containers. These different affordance pieces are displayed in the key on the right of the screen. Each organism represents a specific archival container and movement on the screen is relative to the weight of each container. Within the interface, the organisms can be classified and compared based on the affordance key to the right.
