RAPID PROTOTYPING
In this project, I was asked to pick an interface-based question and quickly build a representational prototype of how that question might function in an interactive environment. I chose the phrase “What if online shopping had crowded spaces?” In my making, I attempted to capture the restrictive and stressful feelings of crowded spaces, thinking of how those feelings might translate into an interactive environment. The three photographs show my progression of iterations—from popsicle sticks and rubber bands to knotted yarn to clusters of dried chickpeas packaged in cheesecloth. Prototyping in this manner, quickly and from the gut, helped me think outside the box. I’ve carried this type of brainstorming with me into other projects such as my thesis.
